Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Oncology
  • Radiology

Background:

  • Ureteral lymphoma is a rare malignancy.
  • Primary ureteral lymphoma without other organ involvement is exceptionally uncommon.

Observation:

  • A case of ureteral lymphoma was incidentally discovered on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  • Findings included bilateral ureteral soft tissue infiltration, asymmetrical hydronephrosis, and abnormal enhancement of lymphomatous tissue.

Findings:

  • Follow-up MRI after chemotherapy showed a significant decrease in periureteral disease.
  • Improvement in the extent of hydronephrosis was also observed post-treatment.

Implications:

  • This case underscores the utility of MRI in diagnosing rare ureteral malignancies.
  • It demonstrates the potential efficacy of chemotherapy in managing localized ureteral lymphoma.
