Summary

The attentional blink (AB) impairs perception of a second target letter. Post-target item similarity affects the AB, with featural and spatial differences reducing its impact, but not categorical ones.

Background:

  • The attentional blink (AB) is a phenomenon where perception of a second target is impaired if presented shortly after a first target.
  • The AB is an attentionally-based post-target suppression in visual processing.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the role of post-target stimulation in the production of the attentional blink.
