Summary

Background:

Cerebral cryptococcosis is a serious fungal infection of the brain.
Cryptococcus neoformans is the primary causative agent.
Pediatric cases are rare but require prompt recognition.

Observation:

A 12-year-old girl presented with severe headache, vomiting, visual disturbances, and gait instability.
Fever was notably absent.
Cerebral cryptococcosis diagnosis was confirmed via cerebrospinal fluid India ink preparation and Sabouraud's media culture.

Findings:

Brain MRI identified a cerebellar hemisphere lesion, superior to CT.
Treatment involved amphotericin B and 5-flucytosine.
The patient achieved a favorable final outcome.
