Benign tumors of the esophagus

Benign esophageal tumors and cysts are rare. Leiomyomas and various cysts account for about 80% of all lesions. Thoracic surgeons must be aware of the clinical, radiologic, and endoscopic features of benign lesions since treatment is usually simple and effective.
