[Determination of the cut-off for marker TPA in healthy children]
1Laboratorio di Radioimmunologia, Regione Liguria, USL n. 1, Costarainera, Imperia.
Insights
This study determined the normal range of tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) in healthy children aged 0-6 years. Results show TPA values below 95 U/l are typical for healthy individuals in this age group.
Area of Science:
- Clinical Chemistry
- Pediatric Diagnostics
- Biomarker Research
Background:
- Accurate interpretation of laboratory results is crucial for clinical decision-making.
- Establishing reference ranges for biomarkers in pediatric populations is essential.
- Tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) is a relevant marker in various clinical contexts.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate and define the normal serum range of tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) in healthy children.
- To provide a standard for TPA interpretation in pediatric patients.
- To support the accurate utilization of TPA as a laboratory marker.
Main Methods:
- Serum samples were collected from 100 apparently healthy children aged 0 to 6 years.
- Tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) levels were measured in all collected samples.
- Statistical analysis was performed to determine the normal distribution and range of TPA values.
Main Results:
- All investigated healthy children exhibited serum TPA values below 95 U/l.
- The study confirmed a specific distribution pattern for TPA values in healthy pediatric individuals.
- A reference range for TPA in children aged 0-6 years was established.
Conclusions:
- Serum TPA levels below 95 U/l are indicative of a normal range in healthy children aged 0-6 years.
- These findings establish a critical reference standard for TPA interpretation in pediatric diagnostics.
- The study highlights the importance of age-specific reference ranges for laboratory markers.
Abstract:
In the present study the authors investigated the normal range of the marker TPA in the sera of 100 children (apparently healthy) aged from 0 to 6 years. Well-defined criteria as guide-lines to the interpretation of laboratory results are a very urgent necessity for the expanding utilization of clinical laboratory data. To avoid possible mistakes on such an important area as new MT for the definition of a decisional standard for all the most relevant laboratory marker test. All patients have serum TPA values of less than 95 U/l and confirmed the distribution of TPA values in healthy individuals.
