This case report details salvaging a fixed partial denture (FPD) by using a custom two-stage casting technique for a dislodged post and core. The repaired FPD has remained functional for over three years.

  • Following FPD removal, the core reconstruction was found dislodged, with the post remaining in the canal.

Findings:

  • A novel two-stage casting procedure was developed to create a custom cast post and core.
  • This technique successfully reattached the post and core to the prepared root canal and retainer.

Implications:

  • This customized approach offers a viable method for salvaging FPDs with dislodged components.
