Summary

Primitive neuroectodermal tumors of the central nervous system present with poor prognostics. These tumors can display immunocytochemical features suggesting glial and/or neuronal differentiation.

  • Primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNTs) are rare and aggressive neoplasms.
  • Central nervous system (CNS) PNTs pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

  • To investigate the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of four CNS PNT cases.
  • To correlate immunophenotype with clinical outcomes.

  • Four CNS PNT cases were analyzed for clinicopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics.
  • All cases exhibited vimentin-positive neoplastic cells.
  • One case showed positivity for glial fibrillary acidic protein, neuron-specific enolase, and neurofilament protein, indicating glial and neuronal differentiation.
