A case management experience with cholecystectomies

Case Management can be used in developing plans to evaluate the care given to patients undergoing operative cholecystectomies. Although many cholecystectomies are now performed by laparoscope, some patients fail to meet the criteria for laparoscopic cholecystectomy and, therefore, require the open approach. This project was undertaken to scrutinize the time and activities of care for patients undergoing cholecystectomies to provide a baseline of information for the comparison of open cholecystectomy with laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
