Background:

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic condition affecting the bladder.
The thermoregulatory capacity and autonomic nervous system function in IC patients are not well understood.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the thermoregulatory capacity in the feet of patients with interstitial cystitis (IC).
To investigate potential links between impaired thermoregulation and autonomic dysfunction in IC.

Main Methods:

Isolated cold stress tests were administered to 19 IC patients and 11 healthy controls.
Pedal skin temperature was monitored during cooling and a 20-minute recovery period.

Main Results:

The IC group exhibited a more rapid decline in pedal skin temperature compared to controls (P = 0.002 at 10 min, P = 0.0008 at 20 min).
