Summary

A normal protein diet replacing red meat with chicken and fish, and a low-protein diet, both significantly reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). These diets lowered GFR similarly in hyperfiltering IDDM patients.
