    Background:

    • Accurate tissue localization of radiopharmaceuticals is crucial for diagnostic imaging.
    • Gallium-67 citrate and technetium-99m pertechnetate are commonly used radioisotopes.
    • Autoradiography is a key technique for visualizing radioisotope distribution in tissues.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the feasibility of correctly localizing 67Ga citrate and 99mTc pertechnetate in tissues.
    • To compare the resolution of these radioisotopes using different autoradiographic techniques (wet vs. dry).

    Main Methods:

    • A model system was used to measure the resolution of 67Ga and 99mTc.
    • Four different autoradiographic techniques were employed: wet and dry methods.
    • Specific dry techniques included Stumpf's method and a modified freeze-thaw method on dry film.

    Conclusions:

    • Dry autoradiographic techniques are required for the histological localization of 67Ga and 99mTc.
    • Wet techniques may be considered if radioisotope loss is acceptable and validated by a dry method.
