Upon diagnosis, living with lupus is a difficult challenge. Patients and their families find ways to accommodate their lives to incorporate chronic disease. In addition, patients must form and manage a support system, the most important components being caregivers and health practitioners. The author writes from the personal experience of living with lupus.
