Background:

  • Kidney Deficiency (KD) is a concept in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that may impact bone health.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate bone mineral density (BMD) in the ulna and radius of patients with and without Kidney Deficiency (KD).
  • To determine if KD is associated with characteristic changes in BMD.
  • To explore the objective evidence for KD syndromes in TCM.

Main Methods:

  • Assayed bone mineral determination (BMD) of the ulna and radius.
  • Compared BMD values in 184 patients categorized into three groups: with KD, without KD, and a normal control group.
