Cutaneous hemangiosarcoma of the ankle

A case study of an elderly woman who developed an hemangiosarcoma is presented. The lesion was firm, nodular, bluish-purple in color with an irregular surface and margin. A review of the literature shows that treatment modalities range from wide excision alone to surgical excision in conjunction with preoperative and postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
