Background:

  • Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by plasma cell proliferation.
  • Extramedullary dissemination, while uncommon, can occur in advanced multiple myeloma.
  • Involvement of the skin and urinary bladder represents rare sites of disease spread.

Observation:

  • A 46-year-old woman presented with multiple myeloma and extramedullary disease.
  • Cutaneous lesions, described as firm, violaceous-red plasmacytomas (2-13 cm), were noted.
  • These skin lesions were extremely tender and scattered across the body.

Findings:

  • The patient had multiple myeloma with documented extramedullary spread to the urinary bladder and skin.
  • Despite treatment with combined chemotherapy and half-body irradiation, the cutaneous plasmacytomas showed disease progression.
