Abstract:
The rights of a mother interfere increasingly with the rights of the embryo or foetus. This interference is not only the result of recent advances in medicine but also of international human rights conventions, national laws and court decisions protecting the right to life of the embryo/foetus. The scope and contents of this right, and its meaning for the protection of the embryo or foetus are discussed in this article.
