Rheumatology. Patients' views of changing disability
Abstract:
This article explores the perceptions and expectations of patients with rheumatoid arthritis by comparing actual and perceived disability every six months over a two-year period. Initial findings show that patients are unduly pessimistic about their future and are often inaccurate in their perceptions of their illness. The author points to the importance of nurses in providing realistic and positive advice and support.
