Nursing in prisons. Career opportunities in the nursing service for prisoners

This paper looks at the organisation and recent transformation of the nursing service for prisoners. Formerly the majority of health care within the prison service was provided by discipline officers, who had had training in first aid and basic nursing duties. However, the service is now increasingly employing registered nurses.
