[Diagnostic value of the sulfite skin test]

Abstract:
Nearly 1,200 patients were patch tested with sulfites in Angers during the last two years. A positive patch test reaction was noticed in 2% of cases. The diagnosis of sulfites sensitivity was then established (or not) either with provocation test or sulfites withdrawal during four weeks. The result is a high specificity of the test, 12 patients among 13 having a positive patch test and a sulfite sensitivity.
