Abstract:
While nurses and other influential groups in society pay lip-service to understanding and meeting the needs of physically disabled persons, disabled people continue to encounter lack of recognition, ignorance and prejudice. The author describes how one nursing college is attempting to create a better understanding of disability for its students and clinical staff, and discusses the issues which have inspired the course's design.
