Abstract:
We report the first case of onchocerciasis in Austria in a African patient who was admitted to hospital for psychiatric reasons initially. The clinical diagnosis was confirmed by skin-snip examination and staining of the microfilariae. Pathophysiology and therapeutic possibilities are discussed.
