[Therapy of migraine with special reference to ergot alkaloids]

In the first part some general remarks concerning the treatment of migraine attacks are presented. Subsequently the role of hydrated scale alkaloids is discussed considering the pathophysiological basis, the treatment of acute migraine attacks as well as the long term application. Finally contraindication and side-effects are discussed.
