Power tactics and their potential impact on nursing
Abstract:
Much has been written about power which seems to be of interest to the various professions including nursing. One theory, which asserts that the urge to dominate (i.e. the imbalance of power over love) is the source of most difficulty in human relationships, seems to have received little attention. The authors, therefore, decided to examine the nursing literature for evidence of power/love imbalances. Such evidence was discovered and, in this paper, this evidence is presented and the potential impact of such imbalances on nursing, particularly nursing research, theory and practice is considered.
