The clinico-morphological studies were carried out in 20 patients with mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis. The kidney specimens were obtained twice in each patient in intervals 1-10 years. At the first biopsy 6 patients had nephrotic syndrome, 6 prominent proteinuria and the other slight proteinuria. Hematuria was noted in all patients. Hypertension was observed in 7 patients and increased serum creatinine (< 1.5 mg%) in 6. Pathomorphological study showed at the time of first biopsy MCGN type I in 17 cases, MCGN type II in 2 and type III in 1. At rebiopsy the clinical improvement was noted only in 4 patients, 7 had worse clinical data and in 9 cases there were no changes in reference to the first biopsy. Progression of morphological changes was the most common histopathological finding at the time of rebiopsy, but there was no correlation to clinical data. Our investigations point out, that the histological evaluation shouldn't be the only one prognostic indicator in MCGN.
