Managing stress in the OR: survey results

1. The interpersonal skills of OR nurses have improved in the last 10 years, evidenced by the finding that the supervisor is no longer a principal source of feelings of intimidation. 2. For the most part, OR nurses are managing stress levels without succumbing to eating or drinking disorders. Additionally, the number of OR nurses who smoke to excess has diminished in the last 10 years. 3. To start a humor program on a small scale, have a "joke for the day" printed on patients' menus or tray liners.
