Abstract:

Two cases of bursitis complicated by rice bodies (C.O., corpora oryzoidea) are described. One case occurred after local elbow trauma, in the other case tuberculous bursitis was found. C.O. is a rare manifestation of fibrinous inflammation, seen not only in TB but also, perhaps more frequently, in rheumatoid conditions. Removal of the bursa and C.O. followed by microscopic investigation is recommended.
