[Historic research on the Complutense University. Its contribution on its 7th centenary]

Based on the lecture "Rise and Decadence of the Alcalá University"--prologued by the then Dean Botella Llusiá--we raise here a series of considerations relative to the most decisive times the University has lived through. The solemn opening of the College of S. Ildefonso, the University's seat in 1508; the stability and teaching prestige--with the golden register of students. The slow decline and closure of academic activities. And the recent reopening and subsequent expectations. Presented in this way, the chosen investigational aspect focuses around the fact now being celebrated: the iconography of Cardinal Cisneros at the act of inauguration, and its commemorative reflection in the Foundation Medal.
