[The function of the hemostatic system in pregnant women with iron-deficiency anemia]
Effect of severity and duration of asiderotic anemia on haemostasis was studied in 103 women in their IIIrd trimester of pregnancy. In minor anemia haemostatic system could be considered unstably balanced while prolonged moderate and severe anemia was found to affect adversely haemostasis due to breakdown of adaptive mechanisms.

Introduction to Hemostasis
The three phases of hemostasis involve many clotting factors present in plasma and several substances released by platelets and injured tissue cells. It is a fast, localized, and...
Extrinsic and Intrinsic Pathways of Hemostasis
The Extrinsic Pathway
The extrinsic pathway of coagulation is typically initiated by tissue damage that exposes blood to tissue factor (TF), a protein released by the damaged tissue cells outside the blood vessels—this interaction with TF triggers biochemical reactions involving specific clotting factors. The key player here is Factor VII, which forms a...
Disorders of Hemostasis
Thromboembolic Disorders
Two factors primarily cause thromboembolic conditions.
Rh Blood Group
Fetal Circulation
Two umbilical arteries transport blood from the fetus to the placenta. At the placenta, the blood absorbs oxygen and nutrients while simultaneously eliminating waste products. This oxygen-enriched and nutrient-rich blood then returns to the fetus through one...
