An adolescent health and lifestyle guidance system
1Emergency Department, Northern Maine Medical Center, Ft. Kent.
Abstract:
A computerized, student-oriented and generated health and lifestyle guidance system was developed and implemented in a high school curriculum. The central focus is involvement of the students in completing the computerized questionnaire. At completion of the "interview," a printout of both the commendable and risky health practices (with corrective suggestions) is provided to the students. It is not a test; the main purpose is not to gather more statistics, but to be of immediate help to students by generating awareness of behaviors that contribute to wellness. Each report is unique and confidential.
