Surgical considerations after preoperative treatment

With the increased use of induction chemo(radio)therapy followed by surgical resection for locally advanced lung cancer, the surgeon must be aware of the potential toxicities of the various chemotherapeutic and radiotherapeutic strategies. Also, because of tumor necrosis and local toxicities of the treatment, surgical therapy can be difficult and therefore perioperative care is critical.
