Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate patients with suspected beta-lactam antibiotic allergy.
  • To determine if immediate allergic responses were selective to amoxicillin (AX) or due to cross-reactivity.
  • To identify patients with immediate AX allergy who tolerate penicillin (PG).

  • Clinical history, skin tests (benzylpenicilloyl-poly-L-lysine, benzylpenicillin, ampicillin, amoxicillin), and radioallergosorbent tests (RAST) were employed.

    • Further research is needed to understand the prevalence and improve diagnostic efficacy for amoxicillin allergy.
