Background:

  • Gallbladder carcinoma is a significant health concern.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate PCNA expression in gallbladder carcinomas, metastases, and non-neoplastic gallbladder tissues.
  • To determine the diagnostic and prognostic value of PCNA in gallbladder cancer.

Main Methods:

  • Immunohistochemical staining for PCNA was performed on 103 gallbladder carcinomas, 23 metastatic lesions, and 25 control specimens.
  • Quantitative analysis of PCNA-positive cells was conducted.

Main Results:

  • PCNA expression was significantly higher in primary gallbladder carcinomas (44.1%) and metastases (32%) compared to controls (21.2%).
