Reflex sympathetic dystrophy

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) progresses at a slow to moderate pace and was rarely diagnosed until the mid-1980s. Thermography, better documentation, and research of this disease has made diagnosis easier. Patients with RSD may be seen by the PACU nurse, who needs to be aware of the disease's progression and treatment to better guide the patient's plan of care.
