Summary

Peribiliary cysts, often found in severe liver disease, can be identified using CT, sonography, and MR imaging. Recognizing their appearance helps prevent misdiagnosis of other biliary conditions.

  • Most patients (11/12) were asymptomatic; one case showed biliary obstruction.

Conclusions:

  • Peribiliary cysts associated with various disorders are detectable via CT, sonography, and MR imaging.
  • Correct identification of peribiliary cysts can prevent misdiagnosis of dilated bile ducts, cystic neoplasms, or abscesses.
  • The presence of peribiliary cysts on imaging may suggest underlying associated liver disorders.
