[Direct vision internal urethrotomy in the treatment of urethral stricture]
1First Hospital of Nanjing.
Abstract:
Forty-eight patients with urethral stricture were treated with direct vision internal urethrotomy from March 1987 to December 1991. The etiological factors, surgical techniques, complications and results were described. The operation was successful in 46 patients (95.8%) and failure in 2. Follow-up for 6 to 24 months showed that satisfactory results were obtained in 44 patients (91.7%). It is considered that direct vision internal urethrotomy, a safe, effective and less complication technique, can be as a procedure of first choice for the treatment of male urethral stricture. The length of urethral stricture and excessive per urethral disease are important factors affecting postoperation results.
