A Maori perspective on health and its politicization
1Centre for Pacific Studies, University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Abstract:
The establishment of primary health care centers in Maori communities has been justified in terms of a Maori cultural perspective on health. It is argued that this tradition-oriented Maori view on health has been constructed chiefly to substantiate the call for affirmative action to improve Maori health standards as well as to reacquire control of health delivery to Maori people.
