Long-term care insurance: issues and opportunities

Tremendous strides in public health and medicine over the last century have resulted in greater life expectancy for the general population. Despite this tremendous growth and increasing need for long-term care (LTC) services, facilities and information sources have not kept pace with the demand. LTC lacks the attention afforded other health care areas. It is important for nurse executives to understand LTC services, financial requirements, types of LTC insurance available, issues facing consumers and insurance companies, and future opportunities.
