Summary

Pericardial cysts, uncommon benign tumors, can occur in the mediastinum. This case report details a successful surgical outcome for a 73-year-old man with a midline pericardial cyst.

Background:

Pericardial cysts are rare, benign outpouchings of the pericardium.
They represent approximately 7% of mediastinal tumors.
Diagnosis often relies on imaging modalities like CT or MRI.

Observation:

A 73-year-old male presented with a pericardial cyst.
The cyst was located in the midline mediastinal position.
Surgical intervention was considered for this patient.

Findings:

The patient's pericardial cyst was successfully diagnosed and managed.
Surgical resection of the cyst yielded positive outcomes.
No significant complications were reported post-operatively.
