Enhancing professional communication: a formal computerized nurse-to-nurse consultation system

A formal computerized way for nurses to practice intraprofessional consultation was developed by envisioning the ideal and using the research process. Results of the evaluation were: (1) informal consultation per phone or face-to-face continued as before; (2) formal nurse-to-nurse consultation through the computer was rarely being used; and (3) documentation of nurse-to-nurse consultation continued to be rare.
