Abstract:
This article discusses issues that are relevant for the delivery of culturally appropriate psychiatric care to African-Americans. The conceptual model of Cultural Competence in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is used as the organizer of information presented, however, the model is also critiqued. Suggestions for the provision of culturally competent psychiatric care are provided.
