Summary

Extrarenal angiomyolipoma, a benign kidney tumor, can occur outside the kidney in the retroperitoneal space. Imaging like ultrasonography, CT, and arteriography aids in diagnosing these rare fatty tumors.

Angiomyolipoma is a benign mesenchymal tumor typically found in the kidney.
Extrarenal and retroperitoneal locations for angiomyolipoma are rare.

Observation:

This report details a rare case of an extrarenal, retroperitoneal angiomyolipoma.
The tumor presented with a significant fatty component.

Findings:

Ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) are valuable for diagnosing angiomyolipomas with fatty components.
Arteriography can assist in determining the origin of very large retroperitoneal tumors.

Implications:

Accurate diagnosis of rare angiomyolipomas relies on advanced imaging techniques.
