Area of Science:

  • Infectious Diseases
  • Gastroenterology
  • Clinical Medicine

Background:

  • The relationship between Salmonella infection and pancreatitis is not well-established.
  • Pancreatitis is a significant clinical condition requiring accurate diagnosis.

Observation:

  • Two cases of salmonellosis presenting with clinical and biological signs of pancreatitis were observed.
  • These cases align with existing literature suggesting a link.

Findings:

  • Salmonellosis may present as a complication of pancreatitis.
  • Hyperamylasemia in patients with diarrhea could indicate salmonellosis.

Implications:

  • Clinicians should consider pancreatitis in salmonellosis patients with upper abdominal pain.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Salmonellosis should be investigated in patients with diarrhea and hyperamylasemia.
