Abstract:
Chronic pancreatitis is an inflammatory disorder that leads to impairment of exocrine and endocrine function of the pancreas. Anatomic and functional definition of this disorder can result in successful medical, endoscopic, or surgical treatment. Enzyme supplementation in appropriate formulation and dosage may alleviate the cardinal symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea. Prevention of this disorder may be possible by early identification of excessive alcohol consumption with intervention.
