Abstract:
Current biochemical markers of heavy alcohol intake are of limited diagnostic utility for detecting alcohol abuse in an early stage. A new indicator, the Carbohydrate-deficient Transferrin (CDT), was recently introduced for clinical use. Its characteristics and possible use for insurance medicine are presented.
