Reflection, the art and science of nursing and the theory-practice gap

In their daily practice, nurses appear to encounter difficulties in incorporating science into the art of nursing and in bridging the gap between theory (which is often developed separate from practice) and practice itself. Indeed, there is a debate within nursing itself as to whether nursing is an art, a science, or both an art and a science.
