Escherichia coli endotoxin (LPS) increases kidney endothelin (ET) receptor density and plasma ET-1 levels, impairing renal function in rats. These changes suggest ET-1’s role in LPS-induced kidney dysfunction.

- ET-1 may be implicated in the mechanism of LPS-induced impairment of renal function.
