Summary

Primary angle closure glaucoma is found in 1.03% of retinitis pigmentosa patients over 40. This study suggests a strong association between these two eye conditions.

Background:

  • The prevalence of primary angle closure glaucoma in retinitis pigmentosa patients over 40 was 1.03%.
  • Three cases with co-occurring primary angle closure glaucoma and retinitis pigmentosa were identified, exhibiting varied forms of retinitis pigmentosa.

Implications:

  • The findings indicate a significant association between retinitis pigmentosa and primary angle closure glaucoma.
  • Further research is warranted to understand the underlying mechanisms of this association.
