8-Hydroxymanzamine A, a beta-carboline alkaloid from a sponge, Pachypellina sp

The previously described manzamine A [1] and the new 8-hydroxymanzamine A [2] were isolated from an undescribed sponge, Pachypellina sp. Both compounds exhibit moderate antitumor and anti-HSV-II activity.
