Abstract:
Having several distinctly characteristic clinical presentations, ectopic pregnancy continues to present diagnostic difficulty. A high index of suspicion can help reduce the delay in diagnosis. Recent developments in the application of transvaginal ultrasound and sensitive serum human chorionic gonadotrophin assays have taken some of the uncertainty out of the diagnostic 'fog', while laparoscopy is still required to confirm the diagnosis it is also a frequent means for treatment.
