Abstract:
Corticosteroids have desirable antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive actions and are administered orally, parenterally and topically for the treatment of various diseases. The pharmacological spectrum of corticosteroids includes activities which may result in numerous adverse reactions. The development of more effective drugs, the development of preparations suitable for administration and the improvement of administration routes have been extensively studied with respect to a separation of therapeutic and toxic effects of corticosteroids. In the present paper, the recent trend and development of corticosteroids are reviewed.
